The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center (IPCC) received funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities through its Sustaining Cultural Heritage Collections program to address the urgent environmental needs of their museum and comprehensive collection spaces, specifically the exhibit galleries, and collections storage and preparation areas. Addressing these needs will include installing enhanced, more environmentally friendly lower-lumen or LED lighting to ensure preventative conservation standards are met for all collections spaces and exhibitions moving forward.
This installation is imperative to assist the IPCC’s legacy of Pueblo-centered community dialogue in perpetuity, as the collections and exhibits at the Cultural Center are at the heart of Indigenous-led preservation of Pueblo heritage. This preservation encompasses education for the public, celebration of diversity, engagement with communities, facilitation of cultural exchange, support of artistic expression, and first-hand expressions of historical and contemporary contexts by Pueblo people to understand their unique arts and culture.
