Got a birthday coming up? Let’s be real. Do you really need another candle, novelty mug or pair of socks with avocados on them?
This year, why not celebrate by letting your friends and loved ones know that you’re celebrating your special day with some purpose and ask them to donate to one of your favorite causes: the New Mexico Humanities Council. You may or may not know that we’re up against some serious challenges. We’ve been hit hard and we could really use your support.
We’re in a moment of big transition. Our core federal grant was recently rescinded, putting major pressure on how we continue the meaningful work we do across New Mexico: provide access to quality humanities programs for the people and communities throughout New Mexico.
Fortunately during this challenging time we’ve been given an opportunity. We’ve been awarded a $50,000 challenge grant from Federation of State Humanities Councils with support from the Mellon Foundation on the condition that we meet their match dollar for dollar. Your birthday fundraiser could help us buy a little more time to keep doing what we do best: enriching a greater understanding and appreciation of the humanities, fostering open and inclusive dialog, reflection and curiosity. Our work is about connection. Your birthday fundraiser will help us carry our vision forward.
Here’s how to do it:
- Post a message on your Facebook page or other social media platforms saying you’re celebrating your birthday differently and share why you care
- Drop this donation link in your post: NMHC Donate Page and let them know to please select discretionary fund category
- Tag us so we can celebrate you with virtual confetti and give you a proper a shout out
Let your birthday make a difference this year. No bath bomb ever felt this good.
