As we begin this month, we want to acknowledge three valued members of the New Mexico Humanities Council who departed at the end of last month: Keelyn Byram, Abby Boling and Sammi Carillo.
Keelyn Byram joined us in 2021 to support the administration of the COVID relief grants under the American Rescue Plan funds during a period when we were entrusted with distributing half a million dollars in grant funding. She went on to manage both our major grant program and the Speakers Bureau program, supporting countless humanities projects and partners across the state.
Abby Boling first supported NMHC as a contracted communications consultant, later joining the NMHC team to manage and shape our Grant Program, eventually serving as Director of Grants and Communications Officer. With a careful, detail oriented approach to grants management, she introduced improvements that made the process easier and more accessible for grantees. Alongside her grants work, Abby also brought creativity and design to the Council’s communications, leading the development of our new website and assisting in guiding with the design of our new logo as well as shaping the Council’s visual identity and our social media strategy. We’re glad to share that she will continue supporting the Council as a contractor to maintain and assist with our website. If you would like to work with Abby or reconnect, you can email her at: Abby@Innovator-AbbyBoling.com or visit her website at: Innovator-AbbyBoling.com.
Sammi Carillo joined as our Marketing and Communications Assistant, bringing strong creative and design skills to our outreach work. From developing graphics and promotional materials to supporting social media growth, she has played a key role in helping us amplify our programs and reach broader audiences. Always flexible, collaborative, talented, Sammi’s contributions have strengthened the Council’s public presence in countless ways.
We are deeply grateful to Keelyn, Abby and Sammi for their many contributions and wish them all the very best in their next chapters.
