In a world full of noise and distraction, The Study offers something different—an intentional space for depth, curiosity, and real human connection through the humanities.
We bring together some of the nation’s most innovative scholars to explore life’s most important questions—about history, philosophy, culture, identity, and what it means to live a meaningful life. Through recorded programs and live virtual events, we make these conversations accessible to individuals and communities across the country.
Now, in partnership with humanities councils like ours, Humanities North Dakota is inviting us to join The Study as a collaborator in sustaining lifelong learning and civic engagement in our state.
The Study will launch August 1, 2025 at www.TheStudyND.org (under construction).
WHAT IS THE STUDY?
The Study is a humanities platform that provides:
- Live virtual classes and events with leading scholars
- A password-protected vault of past recorded programs (2020–present)
- Access to new recordings from current events
- Tools and training to launch Study Clubs in local communities
WHAT ARE STUDY CLUBS?
Study Clubs bring people together—at home, in libraries, or community spaces—to engage in recorded or live programs from The Study in a small-group setting. These gatherings deepen understanding, foster meaningful conversation, and create a sense of shared purpose.
Each Study Club host receives:
- A brief virtual training session
- Hosting tutorials
Resources for facilitation - Ongoing support from our team
To host a club, individuals simply need to:
- Be passionate about lifelong learning
- Know three or more people to invite
- Have the ability to cast Vimeo recordings to a TV or projector (or someone who can help)
- Submit a short meeting notes form after each gathering
