Are you interested in applying for a humanities grant to support the implementation of your public humanities program?
The NMHC grant program encourages applications that include public interaction in humanities programming, particularly targeting new and underserved audiences. We aim to collaborate with new applicant organizations and to reach broad and diverse audiences. Audience engagement is a must in order to meet the minimum criteria and qualify for funding. Appropriate programming formats include but are not limited to virtual and in-person activities, interpretive exhibits, community dialogue and discussion series, panel discussions, lectures, and conversations. Please ensure programs provide a question and answer session for attendees to directly engage with scholars.
- NOTE: An organization cannot have more than one grant open at a time. If your organization has an open grant, it must be closed before a new subaward agreement and grant funds can be issued. A grant is considered closed when the final reports have been reviewed and approved by NMHC staff (without any further edits required) and the final payment has been issued.
- Awards must be matched with a one-to-one match, an equivalent amount of cash or in-kind resources within the contracted project performance period.
Consultations will take place over Google Meets and are required for both new and returning applicants. The Project Director and Fiscal Agent, who will sign the sub-award agreement and manage the project’s execution, must attend the consultation.
- CONSULTATION DEADLINE: August 30th
(ALERT: NMHC staff will be reviewing booked appointments. Due to high volume, groups that have not confirmed they have read our “How to Apply aka Getting Started” webpage may have their appointments canceled.) - DRAFT APPLICATION DEADLINE: September 16th
(NOTE: Please download a sample application and budget form from our “Get Started” page. All final applications must be submitted within the Foundant grants management portal.) - FINAL APPLICATION DEADLINE: October 1st
(NOTE: The eligibility screening / letter of intention form (LOI) must be submitted before the online application will be made accessible within the Foundant grants management portal. Please allow a minimum of one week for NMHC staff to review and process your eligibility screening.)
