PANDEMIC STORIES: Submissions related to this topic must draw upon humanistic perspectives in our response to the COVID-19 pandemic through the lens of literature, ethics, history, philosophy, art, or other forms of human expression. How did the pandemic challenge our principles, values, and our shared humanity? How were those living in institutions — the elderly or those in detention — affected? What is life like after the pandemic? What are the lessons learned? Are we back to normal? Moreover, what is the new normal? What has united us and made us stronger coming out of COVID?

EXAMINING AND DECONSTRUCTING NEW MEXICO’S TRI-CULTURAL MYTH: Submissions related to this topic may deal with understanding of past and contemporary issues of race relations; patterns of migration; diverse voices that have emerged in New Mexico, and challenges to the widespread public belief that New Mexico’s history and cultural heritage consists of only three ethnic groups: Native, Hispano and Anglo.

THE SEMIQUINCENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY OF OUR DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE: NMHC invites submissions related to this special initiative that explore New Mexico’s history during this pivotal period of our nation’s founding. Contributors should provide insight into the historical, social, cultural and political conditions of indigenous and Spanish New Mexico in or around 1776.
